Metabolic Conditioning for Fat Loss
Written by Melissa

I don't know if anyone has ever done or seen this exercise before. If you have let me know what it's called, but until then it's the Logan-ator. If you know my son you know why. ;)

I was just driving and it came to me -

lunges with burpees, legs and cardio altogether for the ultimate fat-burning workout. The best part? It is only 12 minutes and there is NO IMPACT! So you don't have to worry about jumping in the morning - unless you decide to go for the burpee/jump thrust/squat thrust challenge at the end. *evil grin

  1. Completed on: July 15 with 44 reps

I was leery, but I tired this... it was great!

Now I did NOT wear a weighted vest, so it wasn't nearly as much of a challenge... I got off 58 rounds in the 12 minutes. I did NOT want to do the challenge, but I made myself do 58 jump thrusts too. So my effort wasn't exactly comparable, but it was a great, intense, effective workout. Definitely a keeper!

I do a waited squat exercise that I regret, since it always aggravates my bad knee, so I really like the low impact of the logan-ator. I tried to find an excuse not to do it (like the weather was too hot, I was already tired, etc.) but I could not come up with a good enough excuse, so I HAD to do it!

Melissa:

I don't know about "logan-ator" but you sure do seem like the "burpeenator"! I really hate these, but they work!

That seems like a tricked out burpee.

We did a burpee -swing-squat thing last monday that killed our legs for the week:

50 burpees for time. (I forgot all my times, I'm just glad I finished).
100 24kg swings for time.
150 squats on the medicine ball for time.
200 hammer curls on the crunch ball for time(curl the crunch ball toward yourself with the back of your feet, bending at the knees, as fast as you can laying on your back, palms on the floor, butt in the air. This kills your hamstrings like nothing else).

I could hardly walk for two days after this.

You're on another level Melissa.

Phil - I am curious about the hammer curls. Is the crunch ball like a stability ball?

LOL! Isn't that the truth!

I really love the workouts that you share here. I am really sore from my workout yesterday so I am taking it easy today and am doing a med-ball workout, but I am going to try one. I like the one you shared on my other vid - I am definitely going to do that one someday.

And yes, burpees are my favorite. :)

Hey

I had some dread factor for this workout too! But I did it and it was great. I can't believe how fast the 12 min goes by! I don't have a weighted vest so I used two 5lb weights in each hand - for part of the workout. I had to slow down for the reverse lunges so that I could keep my form up. I did 35 rounds total - 20 rounds with the 5lb weights and 15 with no weight. I felt so light after I dropped the weights Really liked the Logan-ator... my son's name is Logan too...He's all over the place too!

Heather:

Yes, stability ball. The big rubber grey or blue one you see around. Try pulling that toward you 200 times in less than 10 minutes on your back with the back of your ankles on top of the ball, butt in the air, palms down at your side. Do this after 150 medicine ball or box squats. Try and walk after that!

Hey girl! Because I gave a visual demonstration I didn't write it out. I don't know how to describe it with words, but I will try. :)
