Here is the workout:
My timer was set for 12 rounds of 10/20, and I alternated these 3 exercises:
***I want to make a note on the form I use on Mountain Climbers. I know that there is some debate as to what the 'proper' form for MC are; I choose to do the MC that keep your bottom low to the ground and your primary focus is keeping the core and shoulders tight while pushing into the glutes with your extended leg. This, for me, feels the safest and most comfortable. Other variations I have tried hurt either my lower back or knees or both.
Merry Christmas everyone! Eat, drink, be merry and WORK OUT! ;-) |
I think that what I did today is called paying penance. ;-) I did the swing workout from late last week and followed it up with this short Tabata-style workout - oh my gosh! My booty was on FIRE and my heart rate was through the roof... I can't remember the last time I did either KB High Pulls or Mountain Climbers! It felt like I was doing them for the first time. I couldn't lift heavier than an 8kg bell. :o)

Big Hugs!
I have been following your site for some months now. I have yet to do your workouts(actual ly I'm afraid to, they look so hard) but plan to very soon. I love using the kettlebell and do my best to preach its benefits. Keep up the very inspiring work!
Hugs and Merry Christmas!

1. Looking to get a 16kg bell. What brand do you recommend?
2. Where do you get the printed information on the ETK program. Is it in the book or elsewhere?
Thanks and keep up the great work.
You either have to create your plan using the outline Pavel gives in ETK and read the blogs from RKC trainers (which does take time but you do glean a lot of information in the process) or buy the workbook from Anthony DiLuglio from Art Of Strength.
I have a hard time recommending a bell because everyone feels differently about them, but I have had or tried the Art of Strength bells, goFit bells, a Dragon Door bell, competition bells and Aders. Aders are hands down my favorite, they have a smooth handle and I just love how they feel. However, some people have concern about them because they are made in China and their lead content/safety is in question.
HTH! :)

Hugshugshugs, and Merry Christmas! :)
At 74 I really enjoy seeing your workouts and how well you take care of yourself. Inwardly and outwardly.

I have to be honest, my diet isn't looking so hot right now! BUT I do start every morning with some green tea and a green smoothie - that way I figure even if I screw up the rest of the day at least I got my serving of veggies and fruit for the day PLUS some antioxidants. In my smoothie I use 1 TB of peanut or almond butter, 1 tsp of bee pollen, 1 banana, Kefir (this is the only dairy that I can consume and not get tummy problems! it is like yogurt, but with a TON more good bacteria and it's lactose free), cinnamon, lots of spinach and ice. Lately I've been eating a lot of leftovers and easy to cook stuff because of finals, but normally I will have a turkey sandwich and 1/2 orange for lunch. Snack is either nuts and an apple or I juice carrots, kale, green apple and ginger and mix some ground chia seeds in. Dinner is a grilled/broiled/baked/crock pot meat and at least 2 varieties of veggies, rarely any bread.
You don't want to know what I am eating now, it's not very inspiring - for example, last night for dinner we ate at the mall while we were shopping and then had buttered popcorn and a movie for dessert.
