FINALS ARE OVER!!!!!!! I am so excited, I got an A in my Math course and I just took my last final for the semester this afternoon! Before I celebrate with the dinner of my choice (it has to be tilapia and hubbies incredible roasted potatoes ;-]) and some DIVINE Cabernet Sauvignon, I did a short yet INTENSE interval workout with some exercises from my Crossfitting days. I can imagine how this could sound to someone who doesn't work out, but I HAD to make sweat part of my celebration!!! :)

I can't believe I'm saying this out loud, but I didn't realize until now that the colors I chose to wear make me look like sherbert! :o)

The workout is as follows:

  1. Timer set for 20 rounds of 15/30 and follow this circuit:
  • *Hit the Deck Squats
  • *Push-Ups
  • *Jumping Lunges
  • *Double Weighted Crunches
  • *Slam Balls (YOWZA!!! These are killer!!!)

Substitutions: all of these exercises can be substituted or modified. If you can't jump because you have knee problems, do heavy weighted alternating rear lunges in place of jumping lunges. If you don't have a ball to slam, do burpees or heavy swings. If you have back issues that prevent you from doing HTD Squats, just do weighted squats. Hope that helps! :)

Upon the editing and reviewing of the video, I see that at the end of my workout my form really looked shotty on the HTD Squats. I didn't feel any pain or strain anywhere, but I definitely need to be more aware of what my body is doing ESPECIALLY when I get tired. To anyone who does this workout: I am going to say the words that I hated hearing most from my mom, "Do as I say, don't do as I do." I hope it doesn't bring back any bad memories for anyone, but it actually is good advice. ;-)

  1. My numbers:
  2. HTDS: 9, 7, 7, 7
  3. Push^s: 19, 13, 12, 13 (and yes, almost half were on my knees)
  4. JL: 27, 23, 22, 24
  5. DWCs: 16, 16, 14, 14
  6. SBs: 17, 18, 15, 18

Big Hugs to all! Have a fantastic evening, all!!! :)

cool, i'm glad to see a new workout. i love that first move, although i'm not sure i can get up that easy. And on the medicine ball through, is that a hard ball, i don't think mine bounces at all, could you maybe just lift it over head , as if you were working on your tri's?

Thanks Tempest! You can just do squats with an overhead press in place of hitting the deck.

You can do presses as long as it's comfortable and you you don't feel any strain in your shoulders, back, shoulders or elbows :)

Hi Amanda! I am so happy you found me, you caught this site just when I have time to start blogging again!

I am going to freely admit that I am not a good person to ask about diet - mostly because I don't believe in it. I just try to follow these rules:

1. Prepare food from scratch, no boxed or frozen foods for dinner.
2. Eat mostly fruits and vegetables, and try to snack on nuts and fruits.
3. Try and eat what goes from the ground as much as possible, avoid buying ANY AND ALL convenience foods - meaning nothing that you can get at a gas station or drive-up window.
4. Avoid sugar and high fructose corn syrup!!!!!!!! (this is the most important one for me, I will not lose weight if I consume sugars)

That being said, I do love to eat buttered popcorn at the movie theater and splitting a yummy brownie for dessert on nights out with my husband. And of course Margaritas on our Mexican dinner nights. It really is all about moderation; you don't want to make yourself suffer and you want to enjoy life, but you need to take care of your body too. I like to eat no sugar during the week, and then on the weekends Daniel and I will treat ourselves with something that is WORTH the calories because it is so darn delicious. We just started this in January, and we both have noticed a boost in our energy and have found out that some founds just aren't worth eating because they really don't taste good (cakes from the grocery store, all store-bought cookies, etc.)

I hope that helps! :)
Hugs
Melissa
