Fast Calorie Burn: Compound Weights

This is my first day back after almost 2 weeks with absolutely no resistance training, so I decided to create a metabolic workout that would use all of my body, but wouldn't be too taxing (or leave me sore - I hope!). I broke the vids up into 4 parts so that it would be easier to follow the 4 segments of this workout. If you do this, start at the bottom and work in reverse order of how the workout is presented on the page. ;)

Part 4:

  1. TABATA TIME!!! It's 8 rounds of 10 seconds of rest/20 seconds of work alternating between 2 exercises:
  2. Jumping Lunges
  3. Dynamic Squats
  4. only 4 minutes of this, and I done - stick in a fork in me! :p

Part 3:

6 Rounds of:

  1. 6 Row w/ Clean and Press
  2. 10 Reptiles
  3. This one was HARD!

Part 2:

6 Rounds of:

  1. 6 Wide Squats/Plies with Bicep Curls
  2. 6 Weighted Crunches with Alternating Knee

Part 1:

6 Rounds of:

  1. 6 Tricep Presses with Alternating Rear Lunge
  2. 6 Alternating Rear Lunges with Oblique Twists

More coming later...

Hi Miss
Thanks so much for posting your inspiring workouts.
Could you tell me what you use to time intervals? Where do you buy that kind of a timer?
I would also like to know a bit more about what you record in your notebook.
Thanks again for all your tips and sharing of information.
P :)

Hey Patty! I am using a gymboss timer, which is really easy to find if you google it. Different companies will offer different sales/free shipping periodically and right now I don't know who is offering the best price. I am getting ready to order a Camo one, so I have some shopping around to do myself. You can also use a free online Tabata timer:
http://www.beach-fitness.com/tabata/
And a generic timer you can set:
http://www.speedbagforum.com/timer.html
These were my favorite sites until I got the gymboss.

In this particular clip I am just marking off the rounds I've finished so I don't lose track, because my mind does tend to forget where it's at when I am focusing on the workout.

Thank you so much for your comment!

Hugs,
Melissa

Hey Melissa

Glad to see that you are back at it! Hope you aren't too sore. My weeks hiatus at the cottage has definitely set my progress back but I will be working hard to catch back up!

Great job!

Hey! I hope you had a great vacay. I haven't even made it over to VF yet because I am ashamed to say: I am weaker than yesterday, and most definitely weaker than you. I feel like I have lost so much strength and I am so sad about kettlebells but I am excited to be trying new things for a while. My butt is actually already sore today!

Hugs and Smooches,
Melissa

Thank you so much for your kind words! Hopefully I will have the rest up before tomorrow night: there are 5 of us sharing one computer and it takes a while to make and upload the vids when it's my turn.

Is there anything you would like to see? I am trying new things since I am putting kettlebells up for a while and would like to try new things. All ideas welcome!

Hugs,
Melissa

Hey Melissa

I was just thinking as you were saying that you were looking for something different. My plan is to wait till my Bday in Sept. but I am going to ask for a TRX. But that you could be something different to try for a while. When I use the kids swing set rings and swings in a similar way it is a great workout and yet different too. Anyways, I wouldn't be worried about VF nothing to be ashamed of!!! Check out the TRX site there is some really cool looking vid!
Anyways, just a thought!

That's actually a great idea, but I don't think I could afford another purchase right now, especially with vacation around the corner... maybe I could invest in some gym rings and see if hubby can make an anchor for me!
